Privacy Policy

Nidaa is a prayer-times app for individuals and groups — families, schools, organizations, events, or anyone who simply wants to use it on their own. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We have designed Nidaa to collect as little information as possible.

Summary

Nidaa does not require an account, name, email, or phone number to use.
Nidaa does not collect any personally identifiable information.
Nidaa does not sell or share your data with advertisers or third parties.
Nidaa does not track your location.
The only data stored in the cloud is optional group-room schedule data and anonymous, aggregate usage counts.

Information the app handles

1. Data stored on your device only

Your settings — language, theme, prayer calculation preferences, manual time adjustments, and reminder toggles — are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to create or join a family room (see below).

2. Group room data (only if you use the sharing feature)

Nidaa lets one person (an admin) share a prayer timetable with others through a “room” — useful for a family, a school, an organization, an event, or any group. Using a room is entirely optional; you can also use Nidaa on your own. If you create or join a room:

A random room code and the shared prayer schedule are stored using Google Firebase (Firestore).
Each device is given an anonymous identifier by Firebase so it can sync. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information, and we cannot use it to identify you.
No personal information (name, email, phone, location) is stored with room data.

3. Anonymous usage statistics

Nidaa records a small number of anonymous, aggregate counts — for example, how many times the app was opened, or how many people viewed the donation page on a given day. These are stored as daily totals only, with no link to any individual user, device, or personal information. We use these totals to understand general usage; they cannot be traced back to any person.

Permissions the app uses

Alarms & reminders (exact alarm): Nidaa is a prayer-alarm app. It uses exact alarms so the call to prayer (adhan) and reminders sound at the correct prayer times, even when the app is closed. This permission is used solely for prayer-time alarms.
Notifications: to show prayer-time and reminder notifications.
Internet: to sync group-room schedules and record anonymous usage counts.

Nidaa does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, photos, or files (other than a timetable file you explicitly choose to import).

Donations

Nidaa may feature the volunteer organization Jiyan and provide a way to support them. If you have the Vipps app installed, Nidaa can redirect you to Vipps to donate directly to Jiyan. If you do not have Vipps, Nidaa simply displays Jiyan’s Vipps number and bank account so you can choose to donate yourself, by Vipps or bank transfer. In all cases, Nidaa does not process, receive, or store any payment information. Any payment is handled entirely by Vipps or your bank — Nidaa never handles the money.

Data retention and deletion

Data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Group-room data remains in Firebase while the room exists. Leaving a room removes your device’s association with it. Anonymous usage counts are aggregate totals and are not tied to you.
Anonymous sign-in identifiers for inactive devices may be automatically deleted over time.

Children’s privacy

Nidaa does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app collects no personal information from any user.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes.
